Sergio Gonzalez
City of Azusa

Sergio Gonzalez joined the City of Azusa as City Manager in March 2018. With over 15 years of local government experience at an executive level, he is responsible for the City’s day to day operations including the revitalization of Downtown Azusa which includes more than 50,000 SF of retail and 500 residential units within a mile radius of the City’s Azusa Downtown Metro Gold Line Station. The City of Azusa is a full service city of 50,000 residents with 230 full time employees and an annual operating budget of $42 million.

Prior to Azusa, Gonzalez served as City Manager in the cities of Hermosa Beach and South Pasadena. Successful in many areas in local government management, he has demonstrated a talent for addressing infrastructure, economic development, fiscal responsibility and improving public engagement. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and a Master of Science in Public Administration (MPA) from California State University, Los Angeles (CSULA). He serves as an Advisory Board Member to the school’s MPA program and is a Board of Trustee on the Cal State LA Foundation.

Brian Saeki
City of Whitter

Brian Saeki was appointed the City of Whittier’s eighth City Manager, effective December 9, 2019. Brian previously served as City Manager for the cities of Covina and San Fernando. His professional involvement includes membership in the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) and the California City Management Foundation (CCMF), as well as service on the City Manager’s Technical Advisory Committee for the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments and the Independent Cities Association’s City Manager’s Working Group.

Brian’s public sector career spans more than 20 years, including service with the cities of Arcadia, Chino Hills, and Downey and as Assistant City Manager in Rosemead. Notably, Brian’s previous experience includes a $500M infill commercial development of an 80-acre former industrial property; resolving a structural general fund deficit of $2.5M through revenue enhancement, cost savings and organizational streamlining; as well as substantially improving homeless services, outreach and quality of life in the communities in which he has served.

Brian holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Cal Poly Pomona as well as a Master’s in Public Administration from Cal State Northridge. Away from work, Brian enjoys spending time with his daughter and son, playing basketball and coaching little league baseball. He is also an avid sports fan, a runner and golfer.
